What is a carrier?
A carrier is an organization responsible for providing final mile delivery services, including the management of delivery personnel and delivery operations.
Are drivers accredited through AFMP?
No. AFMP accreditation is awarded to carrier organizations. As part of the accreditation requirements, a carrier's personnel must complete required AFMP training; however, completion of training does not result in individual accreditation.
Does NHDA certify, vet, or verify drivers?
No. AFMP accreditation is not a representation, guarantee, endorsement, or warranty of any carrier's or carrier personnel's competence, qualifications, or fitness for a particular purpose. Carriers, retailers, shippers, 3PLs, and other organizations should conduct their own due diligence when evaluating service providers.
How can 3PLs use AFMP accreditation?
AFMP accreditation may be used as one factor when evaluating carriers. It indicates that a carrier has met established AFMP program requirements but should not replace independent due diligence.What are the requirements to earn AFMP accreditation?

How do I begin the accreditation process?
The carrier's primary contact submits the interest form through the NHDA website. Once approved, the carrier receives access to continue the application process in LUMA.
What is the application process?

Applications are typically reviewed within 7-10 business days.
How long do personnel have to complete the required training?

Who is responsible for managing training completion?
The carrier administrator is responsible for monitoring and managing training completion through the LUMA dashboard.
Is AFMP a one-time accreditation?
No. AFMP accreditation must be renewed annually.

How much does AFMP accreditation cost?
As part of the AFMP pilot program, accreditation fees are waived through December 31, 2026.
How long will pilot accreditation remain valid?
Carriers that earn accreditation during the pilot period will receive accreditation through December 31, 2027, subject to program requirements.
Why are fees being waived during the pilot?
The pilot period allows NHDA to gather feedback, evaluate the accreditation process, and support early adoption across the final mile industry.
Will there be accreditation fees in the future?
NHDA anticipates establishing a formal fee structure following the pilot period. Additional information will be announced before the pilot fee waiver expires.
